This popular Saturday afternoon programme was hosted by Bill Prince & produced by Rowland Pym in Cape Town. In this extract we hear
John Berks & the mixed up record covers or is that Samoosas & Custard Slices, b/c during 1977. The series started on Springbok Radio
in June 1973 & continued until September 1982. The series evolved out of a previous idea that Bill Prince submitted to Springbok Radio
in 1955. After a short run, Springbok Radio rested the series. Playing telephone pranks with the unsuspecting receiver is something that
many radio stations today do, John Berks continued the practice on Radio 702 in the late 80's & 90's. Leon Schuster & Fanus Rautenbach
did the same on the Afrikaans Radio Service in the 1980's & Darren Simpson on 94.7 Highveld Stereo continues the practice to this very
day. However it all started on South African radio way back in 1955 with an idea that Bill Prince had & it took Springbok Radio 18 years to
finally accept the idea. Over the 9 years that the series aired, pranksters included Michael Mayer, Steven Segal, Bill Prince, John Berks,
Tuffy McCully & Kendal Brown.
