OLYMPIA RECORDING STUDIOS (DURBAN)
Founded by Henry Diffenthal in 1966, the Olympia Recording Studios is one of only 2 recording
studios that remains today from the many production studios that supplied programmes to Springbok
Radio. Some of the programmes made at Olympia include "High Adventure", "Pepsodent Platter
Parade", "Best Sellers", "Springbok 930 Dossier", "Playhouse 90", "Tuesday Theatre", "Lux Radio
Theatre" and countless serials and commercials. The closure of Springbok Radio in 1985 saw the
closing of most of the production houses, however Henry managed to keep Olympia alive and to this
day the studio still does voice over work, commercials, video dubbing, audio, film and video transfers.
From 2002 to 2005, Olympia also produced a number of radio drama's which were broadcast on the
radio programme "Vintage Radio" on Radio Today 1485am. The images that will follow have all been
provided by Henry, this society would like to thank him for all the kindness and also for the many
programmes that he saved and donated to this society and the SABC Sound Archive for preservation.

stasie Radio Today 1485am vervaardig.
